The Good Room is a small shop for the useful, good-looking things a home actually needs. We do not make them. We find them, from independent makers and suppliers, and we only list the ones we would put in our own rooms.
Why it exists
Most home goods are sold one of two ways. Either the photograph is beautiful and the object is disappointing, or the object is fine and it is buried on page four of a marketplace under a title written for a search box.
Neither helps you decide. So The Good Room does the part that takes time: looking at a lot of things and keeping very few. What is left is a short list rather than a catalogue, which is the point.
What we look for
It has to be useful
Something that earns its place by being used — a lamp you read by, a bowl that comes out every day. Decoration that does nothing has to be very good indeed to justify the space.
It has to be worth looking at
The things you reach for most are the things you see most. A kettle you like the shape of is a better buy than one you hide, and it costs about the same.
It has to work with what you own
We choose pieces that sit together — related materials, quiet shapes, colours that agree. Nothing here is styled to be photographed once and then argue with your room.
Where the pieces come from
We work with a number of independent makers and suppliers, and we say so plainly because it affects your order: pieces sometimes ship from different places, which means one order can arrive in more than one parcel. You are never charged twice for that.
It also shapes what we are willing to tell you. Product details here come from the people who make and supply the pieces. Where we do not know something — an exact weight, a precise finish — we leave it out rather than fill it in. If a detail matters to your decision and it is missing, ask us and we will find out.
What you can expect
Orders leave within two to five business days, with tracking. Shipping is calculated at checkout, so you see the whole cost before you pay. If something is not right, you have thirty days to send it back.
Payment is taken through Shopify, so your card details never touch our site. And there is a person at the other end of the contact page who answers.
